| "If a man hurt within and he sing a church song then he's askin' God for help...if a man sing the blues it's more or less out of himself...He's not askin' no one for help. And he's really not really clingin' to no one. But he's expressin' to someone and that fact makes it a sin, you know...You're tryin' to get your feelin's over to the next person through the blues and that's what make it a sin." Lil Son Jackson-"Meeting the Blues Pp 3. |

| I'm lucky to live in Texas Markm2553...the blues is part of the culture. The book is called "Meeting the Blues" by Alan Govenar and it's published by Taylor in Dallas. I think what Mr. Jackson is trying to say is that God is jealous if we exclude him from our deepest and most heartfelt thoughts and expressions. What do you think? |

You can call me Mark. I'm not sure just what he mint, but I can see where singing some Gospel songs to God would be like "singing the blues in Church". Sounds like he knows we should be telling God about our troubles? The subject reminds me of my wife's favorite verse's:
John 14:1-3 (KJV)
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
I guess we can find relief in knowing what ever heartbreak we feel now, He will not leave us there forever? |

Mark, I've written a song on that very verse. I believe Rich Mullens has too (Where I am there you may also be). That verse is one of my favorites too. My pastor jokes about the superiority of the KJV because apparently its the only version that says mansion. Anyway, I got the impression of God being jealous from Exodus 20:5. If we exclude Him from our deepest thoughts then it's like we are saying we don't need Him. I believe pride is one of the worst sins. |
