I want this to be understood as a Praise and not a brag, but we have to be careful.
Sunday was just a Super day! Our "Stringed Ensemble" played the special music for the morning service. We did "I'll Fly Away" featuring our banjo player on the lead breaks. It went super. And by the way we don't wear bib overalls to church, but yes we are a country church. Then in the evening service we had our 5th Sunday singing, where there is no sermon just praising through songs. I had one special I was doing with a tape, but I felt the Lord wanted me to do another with my guitar. And with the climate of world affairs and what our nation is facing I felt led to "God Bless the USA". Now this is a song I've never played very well, although it is in my playbook, so I started practicing at the house. My wife asked if she could sing it with me! What a thrill, it's been a while since we sang together, and never with my accompanyment on guitar; so of course I said yes.
It was really great! I did mess up a little on the bridge before the 2nd verse, but the whole congregation was already on thier feet and singing with us, so noone but me noticed. It was just so moving.
I hope you understand, I had to share, but this is a Praise to His moving within us, giving me the song to sing and helping me do it better than I ever have. |

Right on! Praise His Name!
By the way, our worship team makes mistakes all the time, and I don't think it detracts from the worship. Ninety-some percent of them will never notice the little ones, but when we do flub up good, I think it helps our congregation identify with us and helps them join in worship with us even better. If we did play perfect music, they might think we were just performers, and not actual worshippers. Not to mislead, we do strive for excellence in our music, because it is an offering to God, but we do mess up now and then 'cause we're human. |
