Well I wear socks, LOL. Thanks Terry
Hey T, where you been hanging out? I love the guys at Fendertalk but I side with your opinion about too much nonsense talk and not enough about geetars. Being the big 40 and only having about 3 years experience I am looking to talk serious guitar stuff with guys better than myself. Believe me, there are plenty of those at Fendertalk but I would rather spend my time trading links and TAB's than I would trading insults and cartoons. I don't mind chucking a few bucks from time to time to CM to keep his boards up, but as much as I like and respect Roy, If I am going to help finance someone's jones for a new strat it's gonna be mine. There have been many more guitars I could not afford than I dare shake a stick at so my sympathies lie elsewhere. If somebody, anybody, needs food for their family I have plenty for them to eat... but if they cannot quite swing a new axe they pre-ordered from the factory then they might as well pay for my guitar because I am just like them!
How is the FDP site? I've heard it mentioned from time to time. |

hi lance...you're right about why i've become a stranger at the green place-its just not the same anymore..too much bickering & off topic nonsence--not what holds my interest or IMO what made the place what it was.-i respect all the members there & their right to have a place to frequent and talk about what they will-i just want to talk music/instruments...for the other stuff i'll go to another forum related to whatever it mite be, if i should ever feel the need to seek any of that out !!-maybe i'm just too self centered or old or something..but i know what i like & i don't like for the most part, what is going on there with the contribution thing..leaves a sour taste in my mouth--i'm sure the guy is an upstanding gentleman-he is definately knowledgeble in his chosen trade & obviously a skilled guitarist..its also a nice testament to him that his friends started this contribution thing..however..this desire for a new axe is no more intense or necessary than anyone elses--i must admit i'm fortunate to be in a position that when i want a new piece of gear i can afford to get it--however that is quite simply due to alot of hard work all my life !!there was no silver spoon in my butt at birth--all the gear i've had over the years i acquired on my own with my own blood/sweat & a bunch of long hours--if i couldn't afford it-i worked more till i could !!-if i wanted it so bad that i had to trade something in order to get it..well,thats the way it works..either that or just save a little while longer-i hope the gentleman gets what he desires..but i don't like the way his friends are coming off like everyone at FT is obligated due to a relatively short time frame of helping people out with their guitar related questions..its not like he has been giving of his time forever!!-IMO if anyone is deserving of a contribution it would be our Bosnian friend with the creative pencil that is on the edge of losing everything due to conditions in his country beyond his control!!-now that would be a cause worth contributing to !!-i'll pass on the few months of tech answer funding !!
..as for where i'm spending the majority of my time online lately--i'm over at the les paul forum & also at harmony-central..both places have nonsence also, but the volume is such that there is a wealth of gear/music posts to hold my interest...i would not recommend the FDP..way too much childish behavior for me-nothing you say sits right with someone over there--flames galore !!
-well my friend..i'm sure this post won't sit right with a few people..but i've spoken my feelings and apologize if i've slighted anyone..we all have our way of looking at the world.--peace be with you.

All the forums have the same problems.
The simplest solution to avoiding the nonsense is to either browse the forums for the serious guitar talk or do a google search to find the answer.
And the SRV tribute is a great cd, and the DVD is probably better.
A must see Blues performance is SRV- Live at the "El Macambo".
And one SRV DVD worth seeing is his appearances from Austin City Limits. It's entitled "Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble Live from Austin, Texas".
A good book to read if you like SRV is "Caught in the Crossfire".
Another cool DVD is the Jimi Hedrix DVD. It is a Rocumentry that tells about Jimi and Shows concert appearances and stuff.
If you like Eric Clapton stuff he has numerous videos out of live performances. I have a couple of them they are pretty good. You can also do a search on Kazaa for some cool stuff.

By the way T, I already have that SRV tribute DVD I bought it at Costco about 6 months ago. It really gave me a new respect for............. yep, Bonnie Raitt. My male thinking of many years let me believe that because she is a woman that she couldn't play for squat. Reality is that SO MANY woman are better players than me and she just leads the pack!
I had a date the other night with a girl who plays electric bass. We decided to have some starbucks coffee and then go to her place and jam on some praise/worship tunes and classic rock. Darn if this girl couldn't just rock my socks off (yes I wear socks!) and we just had a great time. I feel sorry for her neighbors because she lives in an apartment building and that big Carvin 5 string of hers was pounding the ground pretty late! Good date, we'll do it again I hope |

If it's agreeable, send her this way to the board. We could use a few more people's thoughts and friendship.
Otherwise I'm just moving in with Harry and save $15 on internet the subscription. |
