Great web site ~T~. I've added it to my guitar "favorites".

And as soon as I learn that TAB for the Star Spangled Banner, I'll be just as good as Jimi Hendrix! Wow!

Happy 4th!!!

PS. Where in NC are you moving to, ~T~?

~T~, have you "joined" the guitaralliance site & paid your money? I can't tell if it'd be worth the $40 to join. Seems like good lessons & a good format... better than most off-the-shelf software programs. Looks like it might be, but I'm just a little suspicious I guess. My luck, I'd pay and the next week the site would fold and disappear. Let me know if you think it's a good deal.

Is it $40.00 a month or just $40? If it is just a one time $40 dollar thing then it would probably be worth it.

hi mike,
i'll be in Rockingham NC..about an hour drive east of charlotte on highway 74, a few blocks from where it meets highway 1.--certainly not memphis-but situations change & 1 must adapt--i'm gonna miss it here--a few good friends/a bunch of good guitar people/definately gonna miss the 'like no other place on earth' beale street..and my dog people/clients for sure !!!-never the less..its the right thing to do-so off i go.
.
guitar alliance:
yes i sent off my bucks about a year ago..its a wonderful learning tool for beginners thru experienced guitarists..i go there to pick up stuff i don't know or forgot..always finding something that is of interest..such as this>>> http://www.guitaralliance.com/jam_tracks.htm
-its easy..they make it that way..simple format to follow for just about any 1 - i like the fact that the sound is instant (don't hafta wait for a download) and they have all kinds of stuff for young & older people..a vast amount of everything..its a worthwhile site-to me at least.plus its not dormant like so many others on the web--they are always adding material..for instance, a blues material section that is new..
to me mike the $40. was well spent..i learn & find stuff to add to material i already know & sometimes a different way of doing something etc....it may be the best learning tool i've found on the web yet..& its a 1 time charge of $40.--even if you only learn a couple things , its still less expensive than a music store 'teacher'..(most know less than me)-& you have it available to you when you are available-& you learn at your own pace..
i'm not gonna sell you on the site- just for me i enjoy my time there & like i said, it was money well spent.
i also purchase videos and books/CDs as learning tools --i'm still learning just like everyone else....i like all the various methods of instruction-some are better than others--i have a couple of companies/instructors that i prefer-its nice to be able to rewind or slo-mo to figure out how that was done.. --the hardest problem i have is finding time.

Good enough for me. I think I'll try it - I certainly have a lot to learn. I'm also enjoying some of the Riffinteractive sites and CDs for learning. I'm also taking a classical guitar class for an hour a week because it was available and cheap. I'm having to learn to read music (not just TAB) and having to relearn some fingerpicking techniques, but it's challenging and fun. Wish I could take about two years off from work to just learn guitar fulltime....

I'll be praying that your move goes smoothly and that you find a couple of good friends in Rockingham. I'm sure you'll miss Memphis. Moves are tough. I've moved about 12 times in the past 30 years - but I'm putting roots down now, or at least I think I am . I've learned that God can bless us wherever we are, though. And if it's "the right thing to do" then you're in His will.

Thanks for the great feedback on guitaralliance.com

At first I thought that wouldn't be too bad of a drive, but mapquest says 6 hours and something like this:

~T~, yes I joined Guitar Alliance. I like it. The "theory" stuff is presented well (lots to learn there), the jam tracks are nice, and the new riff-o-matic sister site (included in the membership price) is cool too. I think I'll get my money's worth for sure. It's a lot easier than dealing with my guitar books with accompanying CDs.

So much to learn.... I still should probably find a good teacher too, but those costs add up so quickly. Anyway, I'm enjoying playing more than ever.

How's the move going? Are you in NC now?

hi mike...good deal--i thought you might find it a worthwhile investment of $40.00--i have found the site to be worth it as well..its fairly easy to learn from it-in some ways i feel easier than a guitar shop 'teacher'--i also find it a fun time spent there.-
i just got back from nc..took some stuff over--i should be completely relocated by the end of august or so-not sure if -or- for how long i'll be offline-maybe a week or something till i get hooked up-not sure if i'll stay with roadrunner or go with a satalite or dsl service...i've been on roadrunner since i got rid of AOL & never looked into any of the other services-certainly won't go back to AOL unless they can give me speed !!
