I play in two different churches. At my home church when I play for the 5:00 PM contemporary music service, my set-up consists of taking my electrified acoustic out of the case, tuning it, and then playing unplugged. At the church where I play at the 11:00 AM service when I'm not preaching somewhere, I plug my guitar into my Zoom 504 II and then through a direct interface into the sound system.

When I play at the senior citizens' center for weekday services, I plug the guitar through the Zoom into my Peavey KB-100's channel 2, and my mic into channel 1.

As of September this year, I don’t get to lead much P&W anymore. But for about four years I did every week in our Teenage Youth Group. It was just me and guitar most of the time. I was blessed to be able to play pure acoustic, didn’t even use a microphone most weeks, about 20 to 25 people present.

Then at least once a month I would lead in the main sanctuary of the Church, most of the time I could use my acoustic with a single mic for vocals and instrument, again no band.

When I was asked to help out at other locations, I would take my Electric acoustic (Seagull S6 cutaway with an LR Baggs pickup) and a chord…

I do have a 100 watt acoustic amp I use now and again, Genz Benz, it is a two channel, so I have one for vocal and one for instrument, I still try to just us one mic anytime I can.

The few times I have worked with a full band, I find I have to plug in.

IMHO, the vocal should be the lead instrument when leading P&W, the rest is just background. Maybe that is because I sing better than I play, and I don't sing very well... Wink

Acoustic guitar, into the soundboard, straight out to the PA. Nice and simple. The worship leader is almost exactly the same except he uses a chorus pedal.

The bass guitarist and keyboard does the same as me. And the microphones go straight to the PA as well.

Amp - Fender Blues Deluxe Re-Issue

Guitars - Gibson LP Studio (main), Fender Highway 1 HSS, Martin D-15 (with fishman pickup via direct box into board) - I switch depending on the song - most of the time it's just the two electrics, but if I am doing the full set alone I bring the acoustic. If not, the other guitar player on the team usually handles all the acoustic stuff.

Effects (in signal order) - Boss TU-2, Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Proco Rat2, Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble, MXR Phase 90, Boss DD-20 Delay, BBE Sonic Stomp, EB Jr Volume pedal.

NIce setup Wide.Right now I play an epiphone LP standard with dimarzio paf's installed.Usually through a zoom amp modeler into the pa.I have a peavey valveking which sounds really good.Looking into investing into a good amp mic and playing it instead.Nothing like the sound of tubes.
