Oh man, I LOVE mine for live playing. It's all about the expression pedal
I especially like the fact that you can just push the pedal tip for wha wha...in the 200 you had to go to a different channel. The default knobs are enough for me I guess.
and yes, which amp did you get? |

I have the Peavey TransTube 212 EFX. It has reverb, delay, chorus, funk wah, flanger, phaser, tremelo, octaver, plus 3 different types of amp models. It has switchable presets and clean and distortion channels. Best of all, TWEAKABLE KNOBS!
I really love it! |

I was thinking of picking up the head version of that...back when money was a tangible thing for me. |

I use small amps nowdays and mic them or plug them into a PA if I need to. I love my old Fender princeton reverb, and I A/B it with a Marshall studio 15 tube amp for high gain. I also have a solid state Peavey backstage chorus with two channels that really sounds great for an SS amp. I used to lug a marshall jcm800 stack around that I sold because I just have no use for anymore. Its too big and heavy and I dont play metal anymore. I am just getting too old to be lugging around 4x12 cabs anymore. I foolishly bought a pro tube fender concert reverb 4x10 combo when they first came out. It is a fantastic amp for clean or high gain but it is also too big and heavy and I dont need the 50 watts of tube power anymore. Thats why we have PA's nowdays.
My rule of thumb is that if it cant be lifted into the back seat of a car with one hand, it's too big. I must be getting old. Besides, can you imagine the looks I would get if I wheeled a marshall stack into the church on sunday and plugged a Flying V into it?

shardy53, how do you like that Marshall Studio 15? I've been thinking about looking for a used one to pick up for recording.
Does it have the authentic Marshall knock, crunch, and warm singing sustain? |

Zathrus, I realy like mine for high gain . It is very versitle and has all of the gain I will ever need. It is a little more one dimentional because it only has the 1x12 speaker but you can plug a cab into it if you want. It is very good for recordin with the DI output, but I prefer tyo mic it. The clean settings are good but I prefer my fender for clean sounds.
The tone is very good for a small tube amp. It doesnt sound exactly like a JCM800 but it is close enough for what I do. These amps are not very common, with only 500 made. I looked for mine for 2 months before I bought mine. I had to pay$400 for the one I bought but it was worth it. I also bought a little lanilei external spring reverb unit that I use with it on occasion, because it doesnt have reverb but mostlt I done use reverb for crunch anyway.

Shardy53-I'm with ya. It's all about small tube amps cranked up. That's where the tone is. Sometimes I think people confuse volume for tone. Anyway, I have a Princeton whiteknob with a 12" speaker and it sings on "7". Turn down the guitar for rhythm, up for lead. Load out with amp in one hand and guitar in another. Spend time playing instead of schleping equipment. And it only took 25 years to learn this! (stepping off soapbox...) |

Hey all Im new here and was so glad to see a site where christians can go to talk, here is a rundown of my gear, I play both in church and travel in a modern praise band:
1993 Fender USA Tele Plus
2000 Raven RP-450 hollowbody
1978 Marshall 50watt 2X12 combo (JUST GOT IT!!)
Ibanez Tube King overdrive
Jacques Tube Blower overdrive
Barber Direct Drive SS overdrive
Voodoo Labs tremolo
Akai Intelliphase
Ibanez AD-99 Delay
Vox Volume
Boss TU-2 Tuner
I also have a Peavey Bravo 112, this is a 25 watt all tube amp with EL-84 power tubes and of course 12AX-7 pre-amp tubes that will put a Marshall JCM-800 to shame, it has active low controls so with only 1-12 Celestion Vintage 30 this thing is awsome!!! If you find one snatch it up you will never find a better amp, and it mics up so well. I put the Celestion in it and put new tubes in it, and by the way its auto biasing so you just plug them in and play, and it has a great effects loop. Iknow its a Peavey but Ive had so much gear from Marshall to Mesa to Fender and everything in between, Im a tube freak and this one is a keeper!!! Thats it in Red with my old Boogie DC-3 and I liked the Peavey better, alot easier to manage the volume and tone.
I have been so blessed with the things I have and I cant thank the Lord enough for His blessings, take care everyone and I look forward to getting to know some of you!!!

Hey Howdy Chris!
Kinda new here myself.
I have a Traynor YCV-20 (EL-84 based), and an ancient (1975) Sonax ss amp.
They are both made by Yorkville sound, Toronto, Canada: almost thirty years apart!
I hope the tube amp lasts as long as the transistor amp has so far.
I also keep a Tech 21 Acoustic D.I. (direct box) handy in case it doesn't!
