Great band. Guitar heavy!
On tour with Sonic Flood.
Check their lyrics:

Saw 'em last night here in Santa Cruz, CA. I'd say they stole the show, but they were excellent openers for Sonic Flood. Got the crowd up.
The guy can sing!
Great voice. |

I did not know I had ever heard of the band before, but after a listen, I hear them on air one everyday of late. They have a great sound/message. There are very few Christian Rock bands I don't like, but that rap stuff just is not my cup of tea.
So are they as good live? |

They're killer live!
The bass drum was like a canon. Thumped against my chest every pulse.
Heavy Guitar sound like their EP now on Air-1 ("Glory Defined"), which is #4 on the charts I think after six weeks.
That usually takes 20 weeks!
Their album isn't even out yet (release date April 8th).
They were the second band Fri night here. "Hungry" opened. They were a bit quieter. The frontman uses a piezo equipped Takamine acoustic.
They were fine, but not a "drivin' " band.
Then Building429 came on and were louder.
It took awhile for the soundguys to get it together (obviously the soundcheck favored Sonic Flood), but that didn't seem to matter too much, because both guitars had half-stacks (Marshall and Mesa) and worked together playing the theme fills and chord crunches, and the lead singer's voice cuts through but is still silky and sings in tune just like the recording.
By the time they played "Glory Defined," the sound guys had it mostly under control, though the bass in that particular room (trapazoidal shaped 1,000 seater sanctuary) tends to sound mushy generally no matter what or who.
Sonic Flood sounded crisper, and about as loud or slightly louder (good concert Rock volume level) as Building429 at the last of their set.
Building429's job was to obviously warm-up the crowd for Sonic Flood, so their set was all too brief for me. They have good energy and are TIGHT, which I always love. Y'know: like crisp cut-offs where the air kinda hangs electrified then they jump back in with a good crash! Yeozah that's Rock, baby!
Two guitars (Les Paul/Mesa, SG/Marshall); 5-string Fender Jazz bass; 4-piece drums.
Their approach sounds more like a good stripped down power trio, because the guitars play together and off each other, rather than a separate rhythm and lead guy, though they don't really double each other all that much, just on the lick in "Glory Defined," that sets the tone at the beginning when they jump in after the intro, and then it's the instrumental theme. I can't get enough of that one. Great sound.
They're cool and don't presume you want to hear extended solos, so don't have any exactly, but still sound plenty guitar oriented (which I like), with unison chord figures and whole band tight "ka-chunkas." Hard Rock sound, but not indulgent or excessive. Just good stuff.
Southern boys (they're from No.Carolina) are gettin' heavier than Southern Rock from past eras. Sounded World Class to me.
Five stars.
Steve sez: check 'em out!
