I got a Jars of Clay CD for Christmas from my Sunday School Class, it's title: Who we are instead, it's a good CD, is it the newest one?

Telecast is also a cool group, they sing "The Way", it is a good song.
I understand the leader of the band use to be involved in some really bad music, warning stickers on the CD, that kind of thing. The Lord got hold of him and he became a P&W leader of a Church, and it's that P&W band that is now Telecast.

Seven Day Slumber has a song called "Candy" Your love is like candy...
I don't know anything about this band yet. But I like the music.

Neal Morse formerly of Spocks Beard and Transatlantic has commited his life to Christ after a long struggle and has released a double CD entitled
"Testimony". It is very powerful musically and his testimony is quite clear.
Kerry Livgren appears on the tune "Long Story" with some soloing on electric.

You can hear samples at: www.nealmorse.com
Also Kerry Livgrens new "old" band Proto-Kaw (The Kansas lineup before the popular version) will release a new CD on Inside-Out in the spring, more details at the Proto-Kaw site.

Another band to watch for is a band out of Windsor Ontario "Flint".
Hear 4 of their tunes at: www.soundclick.com then search for Flint (the band)

The guy that sings for Third Day has an excellent distinctive voice. They have some good songs and arrangements. I used to like Big Tent Revival a lot because they have the midwestern rock sound that I understand-sorta like REO Speedwagon meets John Cougar Melloncamp. They also have good songs and lyrics. We still do "If Loving God was a Crime.." in one band. But one guy who hasn't been mentioned here is Rich Mullens. IMHO the Jesus record has some amazing songs by a guy at the top of his game. A truly holy marrage of melody and lyrics. The painful honesty of "Hard to Get" just blows me away. I'm actually afraid to do that song in church in fear that they won't Exclamation get it. And the humor and cleverness of "You did not have a home..." Who else would sing about Christ "scratching his feet?" And he's got so many more great songs. It makes me really miss him.

Mac Powel, Third Day lead singer/song writer. I agree, if this guy was in pop music, everyone would have heard about him, glad he is working for the Lord.

Rich Mullens was one of a kind. He was just getting started.

My favorite DC Talk album is Jesus Freak (I remember listening to them and Petra when I was little. Good stuff). I also like Skillet (perferably "Invincible"), and P.O.D. I grew up listening to quite a bit of Christian rock.

I grew up listening to Niravana, Bush, and the whole grunge scene....didn't give Christian music much of a chance. Someone mentioned Lifehouse to me the other day...I checked them out. They're great! "Everything" and "Breathing" are such great songs. I think I'm like 3 or 4 years behind on this one though. Embarassed

Grunge is awesome. Smile I'm really big into Alice in Chains, Nirvava, all sorts of early 90's bands. I also like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Bush (are they grunge? I always considered Bush rock...).
Lately I've gone on this rampage of buying CD's of bands that I listened to growing up. So a lot of grunge and rock (some Christian in there. I loved going to the Newsboys concerts!). Sometimes I think it would be cool to get a time machine and go back to like 1993 and check out the music scene. (I know I was alive then... like 3rd/4th grade.) So then I would be as old as I am now. Its amazing to look back and see how many good bands have disbanded.

No, not three years. Lifehouse had a single on the radio that was really big a long while back. But I don't think they have released anything new, and I could have sworn I saw that mid-last year they released another single off their first album. So I'd say last year... Unless its been that long...!
(they are pretty cool, though)
