Hi guys, this is my first post… I own a little effect manufacturing company called ToadWorks, and to be perfectly honest, I joined this forum to get a bead on current trends, likes, dislikes, etc. in the marketplace (regardless of what some of it’s members think, Harmony Central isn’t the beginning & end of the world Smile.

I won’t spam, and I might contribute only occasionally (running a business takes time!), so please don’t flame me when I post… my posts will either be on-topic, or they will tell you how to get free stuff (and let’s face it, we all love free stuff.)

So, in a word, hi!

Well, you can check out our site (www.toadworksusa.com)... and we sort of at Musik Messe - in Scandinavia our products are distributed by T-Rex, so we did have representation there.

Welcome vt! I'm not sure how useful you'll find my comments because I am a geezer and the only "pedals" I've used in the past 13 years are a Morley ABY for running my acoustic and electric guitars into a Boss TU-2 tuner into my Rivera Sedona, but here are my thoughts.

Overdrive/Distortion - I have always liked the sound of overdriven amps. My band mates hid my Fuzz Face after a month and so I dimed my 68 Bandmaster. It was less "noisy" than the FF in the input. I played mostly jazz in the 70s through my solid state Sunn but the overdrive was OK for the time. It was inconvenient to use because the overdrive was WAY WAY louder than clean. I still love my Boogie MKIIB from the 80s and 90s, and have used my Sedona in church since 2000 because I play acoustic and electric guitars for worship. The Sedona takes a "hit" in reviews for those who like brown tones but I like the harmonics and tight response from the JBL-and I'm not overly fond of the Rectifier sound. It's important for me to get a harmonically rich tight overdrive sound at any level; for a mournful or joyful solo at a very low level underneath a prayer from the platform at church to wailing in a stadium, at a low noise level, very little difference between clean and overdrive output volumes, I prefer the cable management of going straight back to the amp, and like the ease of setup.

For Time/Pitch fx, I like lush chorusing and flanging, again with little or low noise. I can mimic Hammond/Leslie, synths, & horns. My EH Echo Flanger gave me a great sound back in the 80s but it got noisy. I went to single rack multi fx unit with an RFC1 Midigator controller. I love the ability to change the fx parameters without bending over or turning around to make adjustments and it is easy to set up. My Digitech DSP128 gave a lush sound but after about 5 yrs, it got noisy. I now use an Alesis MidiVerb4. With a lot of tweaking it's OK but but never really gets to the lushness of the old pedals or the DSP 128.

The Roland VGA-3 modelling amp I bought my son has some real good reverbs, overdrive/distortion, and Time/Pitch fx. Again the major things I want are low noise, not having to bend over to make adjustments, unity gain across all fx sounds, lushness, ease of setup, and cables out from under my feet.

WAH, never got hooked on the effect, Phaser no real use for them.

That's my rambling, hope it's useful.

Welcome to the forum.
The only peddles I use are gas, clutch and brake. Very Happy
I only play acoustic, so I won't be much help,
But welcome anyway.
