Ah brother Steve...correct me if I'm wrong but it's Psalm 139 Exclamation Very Happy Thanks, I forgot about the Rickenbacker's super short scale. Unfortunally the Rick is super expensive, whereas the Gibson faded is just expensive! Be God's-scott

Yeah, I like my LR6 alot. It fits me just perfectly. And I have no other problems with it. All my other fingers are fine, and my pinkie isn't total inept, its just doesn't seem as capable as the others. But when you really think about it, what else do you really use your pinkie for?
I always considered what axe I would invest in next (which would be a while) and I figured a Les Paul would be good (especially for the music I like to play).
I can tell that, overall, my fingers have improved a lot over a couple of months. It just seems my pinkie is a slow learner...
Thanks for the advice Sharring, always appreciated. Very Happy

The thing about Les Paul's is they are as HEAVY as they sound. But Zakk Wilde says "Eat steak, lift weights and you'll be fine". Laughing

Zakk Wylde is cool, but he's a BIG guy! He wrote a riff for Guitar World magazine, and he has his first finger on the 9th fret and his fourth finger on the 15th fret! It's all sixteenth notes in 4/4 (and part in 5/4) time... it boggles my mind Shocked . He has some pretty crazy looking signature Les Paul styles too.
I don't think weight would be too much of a problem for me. As long as I don't have some 40 pound thing cutting off the circulation to my head.

Gibsons are heavy, but it could be worse. You could play a big ol' 6-string bass. Wink

Zakk Wylde is a crazy guitar player, but by far the craziest riffs I've ever seen were from Van Halen (I don't like their music, but wow Eddie is good). Ever heard of "Humans Being"? There is a really cool riff in the middle of the solo.

To keep back on topic: I got another one for ya Punkstar. I've been doing the harmonics thing, throwing some into solos etc. Can you post up some classical method or excercises?

Yeah, Gibson's are heavy. You wouldn't want to use one on stage for a few hours.

Well, that's the second request for classical style. I actually started off in classical, I'll have to see what I can dig up from my old classical teacher.

Whoa! Les Pauls can be heavy. SG's, 335's, Firebirds, Explorers, V's, all the archtops and semi-hollows are NOT heavy.

I don't know that, I don't play jazz guitars. You'd be lucky if I ever played an electric at all.

But electrics play like they have power steering,
and they go to eleven!

Well, not having powered steering just builds muscles then. And will make me a stronger player whenever I pick up an electric. I have one, a pretty decent one in fact. But it's a pain to work with (floyd rose trem with locking nuts and the intonation is a pain to adjust). I should probably trade it in on a better electric. But anyway. Since I started playing at church, I've been using an acoustic. And I've gotten to know and love the sound. And I'm used to the feel. Now I just need to save up enough money to by a real acoustic. Laughing

Besides, I'm not completely acoustic. I still use a pickup.
