I just bought some new strings and they are fender 80/20 bronze(that's what the package says) They are are Light Gage. They sound pretty good and I like them, but I just wanted to know anyone else suggested. I know nothing when it comes to strings, but I am learing. |

Whatever strings are pleasing to your ears are the correct strings

I use Pghosphor bronze strings to darken a too bright guitar and 80/20 bronze to brighten up a too dark guitar. I like Medium Martin SP strings. (NOT THE EXTENDED PLAY STRINGS) If you are a newer player or your guitar is not made for medium strings then stick to lights. (.012-.054) Use your ears for the final decision.

| Good suggestion. I have Elixers on my acoustic and honestly I just don't like them very much. |

I used exiler nano webs before. They were pretty good for a more transparent sound like in ELP's "From the Beginning", But if you want a more earthy, woody sound that brings out the particular tone of your guitar, the SP's are fantastic.
BTW, ACFixer, What is your acoustic guitar?

| Those are great guitars. I have one of the cheaper S-6 Folk size Seagulls. The necks are really nice for fingerpicking. That Artist is beautiful. I like that three piece back and maple on the headstock. |

I use D'Ardarrio Strings. I like the sound. And they seem to last well. I originally started using them because my church's worship leader recommended them. And my favourite artist (John Mayer) also uses them.
I prefer a medium gague on my acoustic, I don't feel like I'll break them. But do some experiementing and see what you feel comfortable with. It's the best way to find out. |

I use D'Addario on all my guitars, I really like the sound. I tried Elixers, they where not for me.
Lance, those pictures of your guitars are not helping anything. Gas for my truck is hard enough to afford, I don't need anymore guitar GAS. |

Wow, there was alot of different types of strings suggested. I decided after I got my strings tuned that they sound pretty good. I'm gonna try some types when I change them again. This is the first set of strings I'v bought for my guitar the others had been on there for a year and they were horrible sounding.
How often should I change the strings on my guitar? I play about every other day. |

| Sfairy, I think start by changing strings once a month in your case. We all have our opinions on this matter but I think that is a fair place to start. If you find you hear a huge change when you have new strings on it, perhaps a little more often. If it doesn't seem to make any difference after a month, wait two next time. |

A YEAR?!!!!!!! You will think that you have a new guitar with new strings. I change the strings on my guitars once a month as acfixer said. Dead strings dont tune well and sound terrible. Please do as he says and at least change them every two months. You be be a happier player for it.

I didn't play often, so I didn't think I should chnage them. But when my amp wouldn't pick up any noise and the tuner wouldn't help any I decided I wanted new strings. The ones I had were the ones on there when I bought the guitar. I didn't even think to ask when I should've changed them.
I found out that my parakeet likes it when I play a song, she dances and sings. Atleast someone in the house likes to hear me play.
On my tuner there is an input jack on one side. Do you use the same kind cable that you would use to plug your instrument into an amp? And should I use use the input jack to tune it or just do it reguraly. |

| Exactly, that jack works just like plugging your guitar into an amp. You plug the guitar in, and it tells you the pitch of the string. Different tuners work differently of course. But your exactly right. Use your guitar cable. |
