hey Guys,
Since I'm new here I'm interested in what kind of amp system everyone is using. I use a rack ADA All tube midi system with a 4-12 cab. How about you guys? Brag on your amps a bit.

| I have no bragging rights. Most of the time I just play acoustically. But I have two little amps. A small Drive bass amp (no idea what wattage). And a small Marshall G10MKII 10 watt practice amp. Not particularly impressive. But I don't need it. I'm acoustic. |

| I really wanted one of those ADA amps when they came out. For 3 services at church I play acoustic flattop with a 3-way pickup system and a solid body electric through a 55 watt all tube Rivera Sedona; best acoustic amp I've ever heard and very fine electric guitar amp. For the jazz band I play my archtop through a very small/lightweight 200 watt solid state Evans AE200. At home I have a fully loaded 60/100 watt Mesa Boogie MK IIB. There's another thread around here where I described my amps with pix, and a url in the weblinks area. |

Rackmount setup like below
Rocktron Gainiac Tube Preamp
Peavey Deltafex digital stereo effects
Technics 5x100 watt receiver (For a power amp)
all this goes into a home-made 4x10 cabinet with emminence speakers..
Very fun stuff to play with
PS: Oh yea...all that stuff gets mic'ed to a fairly good sized PA. |

Brian,
The ADA pre amps are easily obtainable on E-Bay and pretty cheap too. I had quit playing guitar completely after becoming a Christian for 10 years and only started playing again a year ago. I got both my ADA MP1 and the ADA MP-1 Classic off Ebay for $130 each. Both are in terrific shape. You can still get a Brand new MP-1 Classic and the Midi Foot controllers still in the Shrinkwrap at ADADEPOT.com for about $390.oo It's difficult to find the Power amps though. I looked on Ebay for 4 months I think before I found my ADAT100s all tube power amp. They are getting rare. Nobody parts with them. You can find the B200s SS power amp pretty easy. I got one as a backup recently that sounds great and looks brand new for only $120.00. Go get one Brother and join the tone Zone Club.

AC fixer,
That old fender twin reverb must be a beast. A friend of mine had one of those and I have never heard any tube amp that could be so loud and clean. The only thing that came close was a 1978 Norlin Lab L5 solid state amp that I used to have.

Honestly Steve, it is too loud. I don't know how watts and numbers are manipulated by companies but they never line up apples vs. apples (kinda like horsepower on power tools ). All I know is that the Fender Twin Reverb has to be one of the loudest amps on the planet. I had a Peavey Ultra head 120 watt tubester and it wasn't as loud as the twin. I am kind thinking about ditching it for a Super Reverb 4x10 with 45 watts which I hear are still as loud as all get-out. |

ACfixer,
Check out the 50 watt Fender Pro tube series 4x10 Concert Reverb. I have one and it just has tone and power out the Kazoo. It also has a 1/4 power switch that brings it down to 12 watts. It has all the goodies, Effects loop, two channels, reverb, tremolo, DI out, footpedal, cover, etc

| What a GREAT idea!!! Thanks Steve, I'll check it out asap. So you get the full tube tone with the 1/4 switch kicked it eh? That must be sweet through the 410 cab... |

i use a mesa triple rectifier through a traditional 4x12 mesa cab, boss, mxr, line 6, dunlop and soon vht pedals, audio tecnica rackmounted wireless, duncan loaded prs santana se and emg powered strat. i also have a peavey bandit that i use sometimes when i don't want to play loud, (i feel like its a crime not to always play the mesa loud) the distortion is alright on the peavey but the clean i horrible on the thing, i think that ive been spoiled by the mesa though.

| A 1968 Fender Deluxe Reverb fills my needs very well. It's a toneful amp with a Weber alnico speaker and New Old Stock tubes. However, I remember being 18 and struggling out the front door with a 100watt Yamaha 2-12 combo and a Marshall 4-12 extension cabinet. My father would look up from the paper and say "Son, you should have taken up the piccolo". |

Ha ha!
Yeah, I used to campaign an old Ampeg V-4 with a 4 X 12 cabinet. Old Ampeg stuff used to seem like it was bolted to the floor!
Now I use a 20 watt Traynor. My back feels much better!

I use a Kustom Solo 16. Does any one else own a Kustom?
I'm hoping on investing in a Marshall someday along the road. |
