FYI guys there is a company in Indiana called Webervst (Vintage Sound Technology) run by Ted and his son T.A. Weber that do GREAT speakers. I have them in all my Fenders. They have a copy of a JBL called a California that is supposed to be good. I've also heard they do terrific recones. Cool website. scott |

Thanks, Scott,
Yeah I'm aware of Weber, and may go to them for 15" PA drivers.
I like JBL D120's and D130's when I can get them with original cones, but they are getting rare and therefore pricey.
The recones can be OK, or not, and cost about as much.
I went to K120/130's for a more modern sound and better availablity, but they cost almost as much and aren't as smooth as D's, which sometimes is ok, but for Jazz nothing beats a D120/130.
Right now I'm using an EV-L 12", which is ok.
I have had ok recones, and some that didn't sound like JBL's at all anymore! |

| If you get a D reconed, be sure it's with an E cone. The only difference is the mount ring, on the D's it was paper, and the E's were a fabric. Same voice coils, same paper cone, same dust cover, just an improved edge that didn't tear. I can't tell any difference in the sound. D recones here in KC (by a reputable guy that does it right) have been about $200. |

Ouch!
Thanks for all the info, Herb.
Now at least I know I can still get "that sound." |

| One of Ted's new 12" California ceramic magnet speakers with the paper dustcap is only $80.00. |

Currently I am using a triple XXX head and 4x12 cab with some effects. This will be changing soon. I will be picking up a Randall MTS modular tube rig soon. More than likely the rack mount set up. I will be able to midi switch between a 6L6 and EL34 power section and have a vox AC30, fender tweed, marshall plexi, and bogner ecstacy preamp circuit all in one convenient package! Great stuff! Should be getting it in about a week!

| Hey Kurt, doesn't the AC30 use 4 EL84's rather than EL34's? I always think of the EL34 as a Marshall sound. Be God's-scott |

Scott you may be right! I don't remember the exact amp they pattern the clean after... Only remember it's based on a class a type sound...

| hi, i use a laney EA65 - two channel acoustic and electric amp. perfect for church services: can have both guitars at once. it tilts back so i put it on the edge of the stage pointing at me and mic it to the PA. that way i can get enough volume that i can hear it over everybody else. got a foot switch which switches the overdrive and reverb - both very nice. im hopefully geting a hotcake destortion pedal (i already raved about these twice today in this forum!) soon, then i can get more variety in my tone. i also have a proel wah which is good for some interesting tones as well as the traditional funk wahwah. im looking at getting a chorus, delay, and perhaps a tremolo in the future. |

| Well I own a Laney VH100R half stack which I used a lot when I played For a college church called The Awakening. But with the church I'm working at now and the acoustics in the room (its a basketball court), I will either plug my electric through a Line 6 Spider II 210, keep the volume low and mic it, or just run it through some effects pedals and straight into the system. We have a great system, and running straight through doesn't sound too bad. It'd be nice to get the warmth I get from my Laney, but maybe someday. So, That's what I'm using |

I use an early 70's Princeton Reverb A/B'd with a all tube Marshall Studio 15. They both get miked inti the PA. 15 tube amps is all I need.
