Cheap cables... well I look at it like this. Sun Tsu said "An army can only march as fast as it's slowest soldier" and in more modern times we say "a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link".
Cable fail alot so I would start there |

I seem to recall in another post that this is your 1st electric guitar. Guitars with single coil pickups are a little noisy. When you have your guitar plugged into an effects box and the effects plugged into an amplifier's input the amp's preamp amplifies that noise 1000x. It shouldn't be popping though. Your AX1500 has headphone jack, just plug your guitar in with the good cable and listen to see if the noise goes away. If it does it's most likely a cable.
Try another cable but if your amp has an effects loop try using it (it will take 2 more shielded cables; keep them as short as possible) and see if that doesn't reduce noise too. |

AC means that there could be something wrong with the cable. What he meant by the army and chain things is this. If an army goes too fast for it's slowest soldier, then the army will lose soldiers. And a chain is only as strong as the weakest part of it. Because if the chain breaks thanks to that weak part, then the chain is useless.
So what AC is saying by that is. Just like the above examples. If there is a problem with the cable, then the whole system is going to be flawed. The cable is very important to the operation of the whole system. If the cable is broken, then you can't transfer the sound from the guitar into the amp.
So, in other words. AC is saying that you may need a better cable. Or as Brain said, it could just be the pickups. Your single coils do generate a bit of noise. Although they have made ones that aren't so bad (I know Fender make them). But that's the point of a double coil pickup (or a humbucker as they are sometimes called). It cancels out the hum you sometimes get from single coils. |

say XGC, just wanted to make sure I was being clear; I left out a few key words.
Your AX1500 has headphone jack, just plug your guitar into the AX1500 input with the good cable and listen through headphones plugged into the AX1500 headphone jack to see if the noise goes away. If it does it's most likely a cable. And it's best to keep the total length of cable(s) from your guitar to any inline effects to the amp at less than 6 meters (20 ft) or you can decrease signal (which increases noise) and reduce your guitar's high frequency response.
Try another cable but if your amp has an effects loop try using it and see if that doesn't reduce noise too. It will take 2 more shielded cables; one plugged from the amp's effects send to the AX1500 input, and 1 from the AX1500 output to the effects return jack. The AX1500 probably has a setting for instrument level or line level or adjustable input and output levels. Be sure to set it to line level for use in an effects loop. Keep the cables as short as possible, 3 to 4 meters each.
Be sure to let us know how you're doing! |
