| Not much here on one of the most important elements of our sound. Tell me what kind of amps you have and how you use them. |

| I use a Peavey Classic 30 tube amp. Practicing I often use my Roland Cube 30 solid state with some decent onboard effects. I am not sure what I want in an amp yet... Big tube amps have that killer tone but man my hearing is bad already and you gotta crank 'em up to get the driven tone. Even my classic 30 (watt) amp, that sucker is LOUD when you are near it. |

| The Cube 60 was on the short list for my son but I couldn't find one. I wound up getting a good deal on a VG3. Roland's got some nice amps. |

Lets see:
You all know about my v-amp 2. I usually use it just as an effect unit and an amp simulator. Does a good job.
And my cheap, Marshall G10 MK2. A little 10 watt amp. Does a good job for practicing. But I've mostly been using it as a vocals amp. My singing voice is terrible, a bit of distortion from the Marshall and it sounds half-decent.
But at church we use a big pa system to amplify our guitars and mikes. Don't know what they are though. |

Hmmm, i run a POD II thru a active DI box into our FOH, use in ears as monitor when i feel like it. Now i run a VOX AC-30 (not mine) with my POD. Nice, i could get used to the VOX.
We bought the church a Fender Twin (i think they even call it the evil twin becouse is has a nice overdrive on it)
Way to loud, but a perfect amp, will get a loadbox for that one
I own a custom modified KUSTOM head. used to be a twin combo, but we took it apart and made a head out of it. Then we made two wedge guitear cabs, each holding a 12" speaker (eminence). Amazing sound, killer clean. All the fx come out of the POD. Now some pics?

I'm using a Peavey TransTube EFX 212. It has all of the effects, plus 3 different amp models. It's awesome in church for on the fly adjustments.
I used to use a Digitech RP300 direct into the sound system, but there's no tweaking it quickly. Eventually, it just aggravated me. Now, it's being used in my studio to record guitars, since it has amp simulators. It's perfect for that!
Tim
(P.S. - Nate? An "evil" twin in church? Did you do the purification rites on it? LOL ; just teasin') |

Funny thing is that it is a normal twin reverb re-issue. But out in guitarland they call it the evil twin couse it is actually not a re-issue but a re-make. They re voiced the 2nd channel. So if you think you have a nice clean amp............ |

Fender.com doesn't mention the "evil twin" nickname but I seem to remember reading it in a description of the Pro Tube Series Fender Twin, not the Vintage Reissue Series '65 Fender Twin Reverb. What can I say??
My main amp is a Rivera Sedona. It's a 65 watt all tube combo that fingerstyle phenom and Nashville session player (Pastor) Doyle Dykes designed with Paul Rivera to use both for acoustic guitar and electric guitar; clean to scream. Best acoustic amp I've ever heard. It is 1 great amp.
For the jazz band with my L5 I use an Evans AE-200. (AE stands for archtop enclosure). This amazing lightweight and ultraportable combo has 2 - 8" speakers and puts out 200 watts RMS of loud ultra-clean jazz tone. It was more than adequate for an outdoor amphitheatre and a classic large concert hall over the summer. I can easily carry my whole rig in 1 trip.
I also have a Mesa Boogie MKIIB 60/100 watt combo with the EV 12L, reverb and graphic eq. Once I started playing acoustic at church I wanted to consolidate to 1 amp for ease of setup and even though the Boogie is quite small and sounds great in the jazz band with my L5, the thing weighs 80lbs and I was having to carry it to rehearsals and we play a fair number of dates. I really love that amp.
There are some pics of my amps and worship setup at the url about guitars I posted in the Weblinks area.

RIght now using a Digitech RP300 into a stereo amp into my homemade 410.
Great sound!
I used to have an RP200 but then wanted analogue so I got a rackmount...then sold it to go back digital. I like both sounds but right now I don't have to carry pedals and 80 patch cables. Although I am probably going to eventually end up back at rackmount. LOL
ahhhh what a world what a world. |

I have an RP300, also. Its awesome for studio work, but I absolutely hate it for live play. It has no immediate tweaking capabilities. I just bought an amp with all of the effects built in and tweakable knob settings. I like it so much better. |
