I know there's another thread on here about Glenn Kaiser, but in case you missed it, check him out. Great blues! And yes, Mansfield will do very nicely too.
I remember a few years back in a record store I heard a few tracks from some guy name Sleepy Ray, (?) But he was a total SRV ripoff, so I didn't pay much attention after that. He played good, but it was too much of a cop for me. That's also what turned me off about Kenny Wayne- imitation is one thing, but some guys take it too far. I've heard Stevie, and you aint him! Ya know? Where's your voice?
But if you want some great blues, look for The Five Blind Boys of Alabama. (Or is it The Original Five Blind Boys of Alabama...?) I think I've heard 'em called both. Either way, they are great old-school gospel blues. |

| Oh yeah, I know this is a gee-tar joint, but don't forget Ray Charles. He's the man, pure and simple. |

Kaiser and Mansfield are some of the best in Christian blues, but they're not as good as a lot of secular blues. If you want hear a killer Christian blues record that can stand with the best of them, check out Greg Chaisson's "It's About Time" CD.
By the way, Glenn Kaiser was also in Resurrection Band (aka Rez). They had a cool blues/rock/metal sound. Resurrection Band's "Lament" album is a must have. |

| Darrell Mansfield came and played at my church on fourth of July about 5 years ago, Man he rocked the parking lot but good! I lived in a resort town (Big Bear Lake) at the time and the village was quite crowded and well within earshot of the music. Alot of paople came over to check it out which of course was the idea. I read on a website that Darrell was having some rough times and in need of prayer... |

I play with a gospel blues band. I am new here.. Just found the board.. We are a local Iowa band. Evangelistic in nature. Play mainly originals with some cover from Glen Kaiser and Darryl Mansfield. We also cover The Blind Boys of Alabamas -"Jesus Gonna Be Here"..
Just finished our first CD.. You can download three cuts from our website.
LivingStones - A Gospel Blues Band
If you like it and would want a Cd.. just email me..We sell them for $12.. 100% of the funds go to the ministry. No members take any cut..
