| I'm not sure if you would say this guy played the Blues. But he did have awesome Tele tone and beautiful touch and feel... Roy Buchanon. Albert King is also one of my favorites. |

That's it! I'm going out on a limb here... You guys are dragging out the ol' farts because it sounds cool to say their name. It's like when you tell the chicks you are into classical music but you know you never listen to it. You guys are my age for the most part and I know what's in your CD player too. Foghat, Pink Floyd, Zep, Nugent.... Not Satchmo Mudpicker, Railroad Johnny, or Catfish Crawdaddy. I say you guys never listen to most of those names except SRV, Jimi, and BB.
Ok I am now an official target. I'll be listen to Watermelon Willie in the meantime |

Bombs away!
Well right now my CD player is playing Repertoire, A Collection of Unforgettable Piano Jazz. It is also holding some Phil Keaggy and Joe Pass and Santana.
But you're probably not too far off, AC. Lots of people spout off names just to sound cool. Everyone wants to be influenced by Robert Johnson, when the truth is we were influenced by Clapton. But since he was influenced by Johnson...
I cut my blues teeth on early Aerosmith, Nugent, Steve Miller, Clapton, etc. But I've been digging deeper, going back to the pioneers and really digging the roughness of it all. I have to be honest that my personal influences all came around in the 50's, 60's & 70's, but I've been soaking in the golden oldies for a while now and it's great to hear where my mentors came from. I really dig Howlin' Wolf- what a voice! Of course, Muddy Waters was great. And yes, I've actually spent time listening to Robert Johnson. But you're right, when it comes trivia time, I'll do much better on the Led Zep questions. |

I love honesty! LOL
You know Sixstring, you brought up a great blues band that's often overlooked. Aerosmith (especially the old stuff) is flat out some great blues rock.
