A friend of mine told me that Creed is a Christian Rock group. I have never paid much attention to their music. Can anyone confirm this?

I am not sure if they are, but some of the songs lyrics sound like they are. Such as "What's this life for?". Listen to it and it talks about living under the reign of one king and asking god what this life is for. Although they do use the lord's name in vain in one verse of the song. When I play the song I use GOSHDANG instead of the more harsh version of the word.

I heard that they are Christians and once did some Christian music but are now doing secular music? I am about as foggy on the details as you are.... Anyone else?

It is a common misconception that they are a Christian band, but they are not. The lead singer/songwriter (or whichever member writes their lyrics) comes from a Christian background and possibly some other members of the band and that background is evident in the lyrics of many of their songs - which leads to the misconception. I have seen this very same question on many message boards.

Yep. The same has been said about Collective Soul, the brothers come from a church background and I think their dad is a preacher. God's influence on their lives is also reflected in many of their lyrics.

...and not to forget P.O.D.

The way they interviewed for Guitar Player magazine is that they are all Christians, but aren't a Christian band.

They said that they just love to write and sing songs to encourage, but no necessarily in a Christian context. Made sense to me at one time. They can't be FORCED to sing gospel songs, I guess. However, I heard they are coming to town with, er, Godsmack, I think, and another not-so-Christian-friendly band.

I don't know what their deal is. Are they just turning sides and singing with evil junk, or are they secretly trying to win some to the thought of a higher being and Christians can be cool too? I haven't a clue...

Maybe it's all about the "Benjamins".
