Well..... I chose a Cort $200 bass over the Squier, there was no comparison. Not being a bass player I wanted one for the same thing you do, just to have one handy and mess with when I have friends over. 2 guitars and a bass is cooler than 3 guitars!

hmmm..guess i'll shop around a bit & check out other brands b4 i decide..i don't wanna spend too much..i do like the versatility of the MB-4 (oops-i called it an MP-4 above)- it has the jazz & P-bass pickups. & it feels pretty good weight-wise...hmmmmm.

My Cort has the same thing (one jazz pup and one P). Sound Gear (Ibanez) makes a pretty darn good bass on the lower end. You know how it is bro, if the Squier felt and sounded good to you then I would look no more. I am totally a novice bass player at best so what I thought felt and sounded ok may have just been the setup was better on the Cort. I think the neck, the fretboard edge transition in particular, on every Squier I have ever picked up feels about as nice as a square piece of knotty pine with sharp frets.

My bass player just bought a squire and it sounds pretty good. But he cut his finger on a edge of a fret.I can fix that.I think its all how you set it up.Just my 2 cents.

If you are looking for a cheap bass, check out musicyo.com

You can pick up a Focus for about $100

My wife bought me a nice Squire Bass in Cobalt Blue Metallic. It looks beautifully, plays wonderfully and sounds great. I can only RECOMMEND it as I haven't found any faults with it....

Yes, my wife is TOO NICE. Smile

James

P.S. The bass through the POD2 sounds wonderful.... particularly through the Fender Bassman...

"looks beautifully" = "looks beautiful"

The bass has no eyes. Smile
