|
|
My regards to the community. I already have a taste of music as I played Saxophone for 6 years and sang in choir for 5. I want to have my fingers going on an acoustic guitar. I already own 2. . I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good way to start out. What should I be doing, etc... That kind of stuff. Any advice would be great.
Thanks |

Welcome to the board!
Then do a search for a song you would like to play, with the chords.
Do a google search with the name of the song followed by the word chords.
Like this: "lifesong" chords
Or you could try a site called E-chords, it will let you search for a song or a musician and it will show the fingerings for the chords you need to play it.
I would start with chords, then pick single notes down the road, just because chords get you to playing songs faster.
Good luck, my God bless your efforts. |

I'd recommend listening to a bunch of styles and see if you find one you really like. From there, find some teaching resources to learn to play that style. From there, you will probably branch out into other areas that you will come to enjoy too.
But it always helps to know the basics of guitar. Find some teaching on playing chords and notes and reading various forms of notated music (standard notation, and tablature). You can pretty much go anywhere from there. Getting a good beginners book will explain a lot, so I would advise starting there. Doesn't hurt to speak to a teacher either. |

| I think that the fastest way to learn is with a good teacher. They can help you avoid mistakes that slow you down and get you to concentrate on the important things. It's hard to have a perspective when something is new. |
