Sounds like an inspired brother, Mark, who really believes and seems to have proved that prayer works! Nursing Homes and Care Centers, as Mark well knows, furnish the most delightful and dedicated audiences. Before Oct '02, when my seizures began and I still worked and drove, my wife and I used to go every Saturday to River View Care Ctr, where my Mom has been for around 8 years with Altzheimers, and do an hour of that same thing... (evidently, a seizure occurred yesterday as I was typing this)

I don't know the guy. I was just doing a search on something else and found it. I thought it was a great story and ministry.

I plan to contact him, I would like to know more, how does he setup his visits? Does he plan his "tour" before hand, or just how seat of the pants is it? The details, I want details...

Maybe even invite him to share at our Church if he ever makes it to Indiana. Wink

Sorry guys, I know y'all wondered what I was trying to say yesterday as I had a "Brown-out" (a seizure) Embarassed as I was typing a reply to this topic. So I'll finish now...

Sounds like an inspired brother, Mark, who really believes and seems to have proved that prayer works! Nursing Homes and Care Centers, as Mark well knows, furnish the most delightful and dedicated audiences. Before Oct '02, when my seizures began and I still worked and drove, my wife and I used to go every Saturday to River View Care Ctr, where my Mom has been for around 8 years with Altzheimers, and do an hour of that same thing. Even now after over 6 years, every time I visit my Mother, someone remembers my wife Sheila or me for our Saturday Gospel singing. I remember a guy (can't recall his name) who traveled around here in Louisiana with his wife, homeschooling his 4 kids, and singing Southern Gospel and giving away his few CDs. It was mostly at churches and WalMart parking lots, but it was a grand ministry and he had inherited a sweet D-28 Martin and had developed a nice 12-volt sound system that he plugged into his old van. I wish I could recall his name and knew how he and his were doing.

Anyway, the Father has chosen to deliver me from "brain-shorts" this AM and I'm sorry you guys had to see me like that. Believe me, it wasn't intentional! Shocked
Blessed, for even when I know not who I am, the one true God knows me by heart, and for that miracle, I am eternally grateful, Dan

Thanks, Mark! Please know that all of your prayers are sincerely appreciated, and that means all of you. But, you know Dan, and he is blessed regardless, and always.

I am nearing the end of a transfer of anti-seizure medications, and the side effects of the new one (Lamictal) has been a challenge of faith indeed.
The older one (Keppra) had unpleasant side effects as well and hadn't stopped the "Brown-outs" completely. Next Tuesday I will take my last 250mg dosage of Keppra once-a-day (slowly reducing my dosage from taking 500mg twice-a-day) and increase that same day to taking 200mg of Lamictal twice-a-day from taking 100mgAM and 150mgPM on that Monday. (I started increasing from 1-25mg once-a-day last Oct 9, to 2-100mg twice-a-day) So after next Tuesday, we will begin to re-assess Dan's "Brain-short" situation while I am allowed to tolerate the new dosages, combinations and side effects. I am definately still don't feel led to be ready to have my temporal lobe removed surgically, if you know what I mean! Wink
Blessed, Worshipping even with a broken brain, Dan
