| I am in the market for an amp.Looking for something all tube. With the possibility of a band starting lookig for something in the 50 plus watt range.Needs to have a good clean and capable of a good crunch.I have a tube screamer and boss ds-1 to push a lil harder for leads if I need it.I need to stay in the 600 or less range.Maybe lower wattage and mic'in would be better considering limited funds. The drummer at our church And possible band plays digital drums thru a power amp that I could mic too.Guitars I play epi les paul standard and hopefully soon carvin dc 135 S/S/H coil tapped hum bucker |

Peavey tends to provide the biggest bang for the buck. They don't tend to impress the gear snobs like a Marshall stack, or some boutique brand only four people have heard of. But they sound good, which strikes me as more important.
You are definitely on the right track regarding using a smaller amp and micing it. That trick has been around forever, and it works great. |

I don't play an electric very often, and I too love the sound of a tube, but I think there are some pretty good digital options out these days?
I have a Roland Micro Cube that I get a lot of milage out of. For about $100, I would buy it again.
I can add my DigiTech RP80 Modeling Guitar pedal to just about any amp or PA system and mimic a lot of different styles. It may not fool a true tone snob, but it sure is a great tool...
Don't bypass Craigslist, there is a lot of good used band equipment out there. You could even rent a big system when you need it, and just shell out the cash for the smaller stuff you use every week. |

| I have a line 6 spider 30 that I use at home.It does ok on the distortion channels. The clean leaves alot to be desired. It might not be as much the amp as me though. |
