I heard a new arrangement of "Amazing Grace" yeasterday on semi-Christian radio that had the original tune and used the original 1st verse lyrics, but added a break of sorts and utilized the original tune for the remaining verses, but changed the lyrics for the last three verses. I love this and would like to know who it is. It has some great harmony and guitar and would be great for my wife and I to do. Anyone know who it is?
Blessed, even in ignorance, Dan

Dan, it sounds like you might be talking about Chris Tomlin?
It was put together for the movie by the same title, it just came out on DVD this fall, great movie, based on real like BTW...
Here is a You Tube of Chris telling about the song and what brought it about. He also plays it.

If this is it, I can post the song, or send you a text file of it. It is really easy to play, and packs a big punch.

If this is not it, or the you tube is more than dial-up can handle, let me know and we will try something different.

Wow, thanks Mark! I don't have time to look know, but I really think that is it. Your rapid response absolutely awes me. May the path chosen for you today be filled with joy and gladness! I'll listen to the sites this evening and let you know. I don't think I'll have trouble with the chords, but we'll see. This CD is definately on my Christmas list!
Blessed, by quick friends, Dan

Mark, as we feared, my 28,500kps maximum cow-pasture dial-up speed can't quite handle the download. (also I must admit that I am still Win98) I got to hear enough (about 1:40) to become convinced this is the song I heard because of the line I heard: "My chains are gone, I've been set free" in the refrain. I am still hypnotized and captured by Chris's arrangement. I must admit I haven't been a follower of his, and that looks like my obvious loss. I don't get to hear much new stuff. The excuse we have for Christian Radio around here (a national network called K-Love) is really sad. Yesterday, I heard Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Aroumd the Christmas Tree" on there and it seems they talk about such worldly things and they had a lot of disturbing things around Halloween. My daughter, Mira, alerts me to things she hears about (that's how I was made aware of the "Glory Revealed" project) but she and her husband are into more intense and rocky stuff that I (like Third Day and other big band sound Christian.

Still thanks so much for guiding my search. I guess the best we can hope for is an emailed MP3 (an a 5 min song takes about 45-55 min to upload or download) before I can acquire the CD. I have a friend with DSL who may be able to extract the audio from the video for me. My wife and I noticed last night that the movie is currently on PayPerView on DirecTV and we may DVR it for ourselves for Christmas. Again thank you so very much!
Blessed, even with super rural, snail-like and frustrating dial-up speed, Dan

Music, here is some more Todd Agnew.
There are several covers of Gace like Rain on You Tube.
He has some great stuff, here are a few others:

To me his voice sounds like a metal singer might, I'm glad he is using for God's Glory!

Mark, again thanks! BTW, I got a copy of the lyrics from a friend at the "Christian Fellowship" section of guitarnotes.com and it is definately the tune I heard. If I can hear it just once more, I think I could play it.
Blessed, by the drawing and the calling to an annointed song, Dan

Sorry Dan, we must have posted our threads within seconds of one another this morning, I didn't see your till just now, lets try this:

http://www.amazon.com/Amazing-Grace-Inspired-Motion-Picture/dp/B000LW7UUK

The above link is to amazon for the CD this song is on, Chris also has the song on his lastest CD as well. There are samples of each song, you can hear part of it there anyway. Should be a little easier on the dialup.

I have the sheet music for the song at home, I saw Chris last sping and bought the music book for the CD. This will work:

My Chains Are Gone
Capo 3

Verse 1:
D G/D D
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
A/D G
That saved a wretch like me!
D D/F# G D
I once was lost, but now am found
A/D D
Was blind but now I see

Verse 2:
T'was grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

CHORUS -----------------------------------------
D/F# G D/F#
My chains are gone, I've been set free
G/B D/A
my God my Savior has ransomed me
D/F# G D/F#
and like a flood His mercy reigns
Em7 A7 D
Unending love Amazing Grace
-----------------------------------------------
Verse 3:
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures

Verse 4:
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call'd me here below,
Will be forever mine

Thanks, Mark! I got to open up the youtube page at my friend's with DSL and got to hear that cut of it all the way through. I happened to have my Norman with me because I was going to sing at my wife's bible study at the teenage drug and alcohol facility she works at. So I pretty much got the feel of most of it, and if I hear the studio version once more I'll have it, at least a "Dan Browned" up version. I find it strajnge that his version is in what sounds like 3/4 timing. I know some hymn books show it in 3/4 and some in 6/4, but I,ve never seen it in 4/4 I believe.
Blessed, with a new song to lift up to Him, Dan
