I've always seen Revelations as a prophetic and very symbolic book that I've studied with the book of Daniel. A lot of things between those books are very parallel. I don't know. Are there any specific points you have questions about? Or just the book in general? After studying a little bit in Revelations, I believe that God is coming back very soon to take us home. God bless.

I was very interested in Revelations back when I was a Baptist (age 10-16). I asked Sunday School teachers and Reverends about it, but it's still pretty enigmatic to me about the level of literalism and symbolism.
I saw a program on the History channel last week that cited current events and how we could possibly be at an end of days, and I just laughed. I remember seeing a similar program back when I was 8 or so (that would be about 1993), and it scared me pretty bad. Even as bad as things are, if WW2 wasn't bad enough to be the end of the world, I don't think we're near it now. If Adolf didn't meet the criteria of an anti-Christ.....that's kind of scary.
My only conclusion is that I hope I just go *poof* and don't have to worry about it. |

Well Jeff, if my understanding is correct. We who have been saved before the rapture do go *poof* and don't have to worry about it.
If we are just speaking generally about Revelation, yes, I believe it and believe it literally. Except for the parts that are obviously figurative, but those parts are either explained directly, or have parallels in other parts of Scripture (as you rightly point out the book of Daniel). Personally, I have no trouble believing a literal interpretation of Revelation. I believe such other "radical" things as God creating the world in six days, that Jesus did indeed live a sinless life and die an undeserved death without even complaining once, and that hundreds of people died for a higher truth (why die for a lie?). So I don't see what is so hard about believing that a God who created the world is capable of turning it upside down.
I know I've mentioned it in other posts, but there is a facinating book on the subject of Revelation. The Revelation Record by Dr. Henry M. Morris. It's an old book, so I don't know if it's still available. But if you can get your hands on it, have a read. It's a verse by verse exposition of the entire book. There is a lot of good theology and theory in there and is well worth the read if you can get it. |

I'll look for that book Punk...sounds interesting. A thought that struck me is that the church will witness the judgement and the second death of the condemed. I likely be very sorry i didn't do more while i could. |
