there is a collection of uncannonized books called the Apocrypha
The "Apocrypha" are not unauthorized Gospels. They are books that are in the Canon of Scripture, but that Bible publishers in the early 18th century tended to leave out of Bibles to save printing costs. These are Jewish writings from the period shortly before Jesus is born. It includes the books of the Macabees, where the story of Hannukah comes from.
There are also published copies of translations of the Gospels of Peter, Mary Magdalene, Thomas, and others that can be purchased.
Since there is now no single cohesive leadership in the Christian church, I cannot see any attempts to include new writings into the canon of scripture accomplishing anything other than causing an even bigger division among the people of God. It's bad enough that there are so many denominations within the one holy catholic and apostolic church. And that includes the denomination that calls itself "non-denominational".
BTW, there is one cult that has successfully added additional writings to the Bible. The writings are called "The Book of Mormon". |

| It's more or less like Scientology with a Christian spin. A guy made up a new religion, enforced it with similar methods, and eventually had to pack up and move into the wilderness of Utah. Which is scary that Scientology could actually be around in a century. I just can't imagine what would compel someone to make up a religion on a total whim. |
