Well, i was out and about, minding my own business when all of a sudden WHAM! I bought ANOTHER electric guitar. I was spelunking in a dark cave...er corner of a old guitar store when a white Japanese Strat revealed itself. Hmmmm 1962ri, rosewood fingerboard, cream white with mint pickguard and light-as-a-feather. "hey, whatdayawant for this?".........$300 Exclamation Welllllllllll ok. Found out it's a basswood body which i guess is why it's so light. Looks like Jimmie Vaughn's guitar. I guess there was an inner need driving me to have one guitar from each of the big three...Martin, Gibson and now Fender. The only question is...how am i gonna explain this to the missus?!? She won't even notice it if you already have another white guitar. If you don't, then good luck... Perhaps fall back on the "they all do something different" excuse!

You have a problem dude! According to my wife you just have to tell her and take it like a man..... Smile If you try to hide it or 'forget to tell here'it will only make it worse!

Sounds good but......

Good luck!

Don't forget, you need a Gretsch, too! Cool

Nate, maybe i could give her a christmas present early.... Wink
Whoa, Gretsch....forgot about them Herb. They're the chimy hollowbody electric that George Harrison and Brian Setzer used? Never played one, but i played a Rickenbaker once. It was a very cool rhythm sound, but seemed like a one-trick pony. Be God's-scott

I want to get a Gretsch one day. They look like great guitars to fingerpick on. And Chris Cheney of The Living End uses one. A White Falcon, so maybe I'll get one of those.

As for your wife problems. I think you're either going to have to bite the bullet and confess, leave it at a mate's house until you get a bonus at work, or just give up and move to Kazakstan. Wink

Personally, I'm glad I'm not planning on getting a wife until I've at least finished my first world tour and have a signature model guitar. Laughing

Punkstar, for the best finger picking ever, and done on a Gretsch by the way, listen to Mr. Guitar himself, Chet Atkins. The best Gretsch for fingerpicking is the Nashville Classic-1959. Developed after Chet's death by his #1 guitar man and friend Paul Yandell, copied very accurately from Chet's heavily modified 1959 model 6122 Country Gentleman.

If I didn't already have an original 1958, I'd get one of these.

You have the guitar trifecta, maybe F1 can hook you up with a flashy car. Smile

I do compulsive stuff like this all the time with fishing equipment. I have tied enough flies to last me 2 years, easily. But I'll see some feathers, hair, hooks, line, rods, reels, whatever....I'll get it. The only fishing equipment I could possibly need is a 10 weight flyrod (*Fartknocker*) which I would only be able to use on striper in Lake Texhoma. Yet I'll see a color scheme I don't have or buy the necassary components to tie a fly that I haven't tied before.

In high school I spent $800 on a mini-14 that I didn't really need either, it was something I HAD to have for my 18th B-day.

The cool thing about this guitar is that it is been abused just right...the back tremolo cover is missing, it has belt buckle scratches on the back, the pickups are typical 98lb weaklings (regular on Jap Strats) etc. It plays great and is the lightest Strat ever-must be the basswood body. Cool scott

F1...what's the trade-in on a 90 Toyota van? Laughing

1) EVERYbody needs a mini14!

2) High School is not exactly a mid-life crisis!

That is true, I did need it to complete my gun trifecta (shotgun/rifle/pistol).

I'm a little short on the guitar trifecta, I doubt I'll buy a new guitar for years. By the time I can afford a guitar I deem worth buying, I'll be 35 or so. I don't see myself having a grand I can just throw away on a Gibson in the near future.
