Yesterday in my morning Bible reading, I was reading Daniel chapter 3 (I think). The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. How they refused to bow down to the king's new idol. They get hauled before they king and given a chance to give in and worship the big piece of gold. But they refuse and get thrown into a super-hot furnance. Yet God protects they and they come out unharmed. And this forces the king to recognize their God as supreme.
So all that happens to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. Yet, where was Daniel during all of this? The Bible doesn't actually mention him in this story. What was Daniel doing at the time that means he didn't get punished for not bowing to a glorified piece of gold? Since Daniel doesn't hit me as the type of guy to worship idols. I just wonder where he was at the time. My theory is that maybe he was away on official business in other country. He was quite a powerful man in the kingdom at the time. The king could have sent him off an errand or something.
Anyway, anyone got any ideas on where Daniel was during this story? |

PunkStar, that's very interesting! I must say that the question has crossed my mind, but never enough to make me search it out. Maybe I'll look into that - make a Bible study of it! I'll get back to you...
