One of my favorit bands, Thrid Day, put out a "worship kit" for their CD "Offerings" a few years ago. I finally found it and it's supposed to get here today. Third Day's music isn't real difficult and I am not sure what the kit will contain, but I am jazzed. I'll keep you posted. Smile

They've got good stuff. I wrote down a title I'm wanting to buy but it's at work and I can't remember it. Recent, I believe.

I thought "God of Wonders" was a good song. Wish I had wrote it. Smile

Third Day is my favorite band! They have a new cd out called "Wired". I haven't heard it yet, but plan on getting it soon enough. Their "Oferings" and "Offerings II" are both really good cd's. I've heard both. My favorite song is "Consuming Fire". It's got that raw, grunge feel to it and it's very well done.

I have Offerings II and ther almost newest one called, "Come Together". They're both great albums. My favorite song on Offerings II is "Creed". My favorite songs on "Come Together" are "Get On", "My Heart", and "It's Alright". I would suggest both cd's. They're both very well done.

I love Third Day's set-up! They have 1 lead guitarist, 2 back-up electrics, a bass, and a drummer. That's the band. With an occassional keyboardist thrown in here and there. I just love the idea of 2 electric back-ups. They sound so great with Third Day. The one plays a steady rhythm with a relatively heavy distortion while the other plays a sweet led. That's the way they do it and it sound SWEEEET!!!

Alas, I cannot get past the quality of Third Day's lead vocals - and that's saying something given the diversity of my listening line-ups. It's like a low-grade blend of Michael W. Smith, Jeremy Camp, and Chad Kroeger of Nickelback. "God of Wonders" is about the only thing that doesn't make me cringe.

Wait - Meridian, are you saying that you their vocals, or that you love them?! I think Mac's voice is amazing! Confused
- Tim
P.S. - I also really, really like Jeremy Camp!

What I'm saying is I don't like the lead vocalist's singing voice. Call it a distaste for almost-southern-rock lead vocals. They just don't do anything for me. I'm not moved at all. Same thing happens when I hear Michael W. Smith - save that his voice is more nasal/whiney. The vocals get in the way of the song. When I hear the music, I think to myself, "This could be a real good song if they got someone else to sing it...."

I really like Jeremy Camp's "Take My Life" - that's a real rock song (and the only good rock song on the album). However, I would rather hear someone other than him sing it - his voice is just too harsh.

It's all just preference. Where I hear so-so vocals, others hear angelic song. That's what's great about music - all of us see and hear it in our own unique way. One song can elicit a wide and varied range of responses from different parts of the body.

I saw Third Day in concert at an Autumn Blaze Festival and they were utterly amazing. It was an amazing show, but they weren't there to "show off". They were definitely worshipful and the felling spread like wildfire to the thousands there. it was truely amazing. That's what I want my band to be like!!!
By the way, my favorite Jeremy Camp song is "Understand". I feel that that is the best definition of a well-built rock song. He starts with jst the acoustic and an electric solo background, then the drums play a fill and into the song we got. Later on in the song, everything stops except for the acoustic and then electric and drums begin to come in and it totally climaxes to the bridge. I love climax in a song and I think that "Understand" was his most well put together song. But that's just my thoughts about what is my favorite song, so...

For those of you who have heard Jeremy Camp's song, "Take My Life", I have a question. I cannot figure out what he has the elctric guitarist doing on the verses. The electric is doing a really cool picking on a heavy, grunge distortion and it sounds so cool! The only thing that I can think is that perhaps he's palm-muting it as he picks. But that's very hard! Could anyone maybe confirm this, or is he doing something totally different?
By the way, I do agree that his voice is way too harsh on that song, but I love how deep his voice is when he sings normally. He seems to yell in "Take My Life", which annoys me, but he has a really cool voice when he's not trying to be a heavy-metal star.

I think so. It's got that Marshall thump going, which usually means palm muting on the bridge. Good tone on the single twisted sorta notes in between the ka-chunkas too.

Yeh i like Third Day.

And yeh Mac's voice is very distinct, and some people dont like it. But you know, its voices like that, that are different that make people notice the band.
Thats how you get noticed i guess, if you have something different to offer. and Third Day had something different to offer when they jumped into the scene. So its worked well for them Smile
